Outdoor Classroom Construction

Earlier this year, Central School was awarded a $20000 innovation grant to build an Outdoor Learning Space. With the changing world emphasizing connectivity and a reliance on electronic devices, we want our students to still have a vivid appreciation of the outdoors. We believe the outdoors encourages a different kind of experiential learning and connectedness to the larger world.

After consultation with staff, parents, and students, we decided the area should:

- have a natural feel
- be resilient to lots of use
- inspire regular multi-use
- have a writing space
- have a performance space
- have a seating area
- represent Whitecourt / Forestry

We will begin construction of the outdoor learning space this week with work continuing until the end of June.
