What a week!
Thanks to a generous grant from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Trickster Theatre spent a week with us sharing their energy and expertise. From the opening assembly Monday morning, it was clear this would be a special week with our five Tricksters - Kyall, Jesse, Jamie, Delia, and Brett - all professional actors from Calgary and Edmonton.
After the morning assembly, each class spent time each day with their assigned Trickster in workshops designed to bring curriculum alive through physical drama. Using simple props, benches, a parachute, or plungers, each class developed an original short skit that became a 90 minute school production called "The Central Forest".
As a school, we decided to focus our residency on understanding and celebrating the role of Forestry in Whitecourt. Special thanks to Wildfire Information Officer, Shannon Stambough for sharing her expertise in preparation for the week.
The final product? "Fifteen acts of fun" exploring all aspects of the Forest.
