Mr. David Turcotte
Principal
My name is David Turcotte, and I am the newest Principal at Whitecourt Central School! I was born and raised in Mackenzie, British Columbia, however, I made the move to Alberta as soon as I graduated from high school, as it always had my heart, haivng spent a great deal of time in the Peace Country, with my extended family being from Falher, and surrounding communities.
I received a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta in 2000, and completed my Masters of Education through the University of Northern British Columbia in 2013. My teaching career began in Grande Prairie, however as a family, we knew we wanted to raise our children in a smaller Alberta community, and made the move to Whitecourt in September 2013. This year is my 24 year in the teaching profession, and my 11 year with Northern Gateway Public Schools.
Moving to Whitecourt has been an amazing experience for our family! In the summer you can find us on the lake in our boat, or traveling around the province. Outdoor activities for our family are many, as we spend time camping, golfing, hunting, snowmobililing, and skiiing at Eastlink Park and Marmot Basin! During the school year, we are busy with our two sons who are active in school and community sports, including basketball, baseball, and football. As a volunteer firefighter, with the Whitecourt Fire Department, I also have the priviledge of serving and protecting our community. Working as a Member-at-Large for the Community Services Board and Economic Development Committee for Woodlands County has also been a rewarding way to give back to Woodlands County residents.
I am truly excited to be joining the WCS Eagles family!
