Principal

Welcome to Whitecourt Central School! My name is Tammy McKeever and I am the proud principal of our amazing school!

I grew up on a farm in Cherhill with my mom and dad, a dog, a cat and some horses and cattle. Early morning chores, long days picking rocks and helping my mom in her classroom, all led to my love of school and hard work.

I graduated with my Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta in April 1993 and stepped into my first multi-grade classroom at Blue Ridge School in August of the same year.  I remained there for 12 years until it closed down and then transitioned to Elmer Elson Elementary in Mayerthorpe. In 2005, I graduated with my Master of Arts in Leadership and soon became the Assistant Principal of Whitecourt Central School. I became principal a year later and enjoy my job tremendously. I am proud to say that I am starting my 30th year in education.

When I am not at school, I am spending time with my husband on the farm.  We have 2 dogs, a cat and 98 sheep.  My husband and I enjoy watching the Oilers (although he cheers for Vegas when they play), going to the Elks games and visiting our family.

We have 2 daughters, Tannon, who is a kinesiologist in Mayerthorpe, and Bailey, who is a teacher for Edmonton Public. They are both married and have more puppies for us to cuddle.

In November, we will be grandparents and are so excited.

My Philosophy - I believe that every child can learn and should have an opportunity to access a wonderful learning experience while at school. I believe that as educators we have the opportunity to foster that love of learning in the students we teach. In order to foster that love of learning, we have to love what we do and it should be evident. I strongly believe that all students need a connection with the adults in the school to feel valued and safe.

I look forward to working with families throughout the school year and beyond!
